Energy Auditing
ArchiTech Consulting conducts independent energy audits on buildings ranging from single family homes to multi-story high-rises. ArchiTech’s objective is to establish an energy consumption baseline, quantify current energy usage and identify energy savings opportunities for each building.
Prior to the site visit, utility usage data is collected for a minimum of a 36-month period to allow the auditor to evaluate the building’s energy consumption rate and analyse seasonal trends. During the site visit, the inspection focuses on the building envelope, lighting, HVAC, domestic water use and areas for improvements. The report will include Energy Conservation Measures, the cost to implement, estimated useful life, and estimated energy consumption associated with each. Available building plans and information are reviewed, and interviews with building personnel are conducted to gain a better picture of how the building operates as a system.
ArchiTech is proficient in the proper use of energy auditing equipment, including, but not limited to: infrared camera, and blower door, duct blaster and combustion analysis tools. We provide the following services for existing buildings:

What is a Home Energy Audit?
A home energy audit is an assessment of how older and new residential houses perform compared to new house standards and codes. It is an analytical approach taking a year of utility data plus key behaviour usage questions like how many occupants, what is the temperature setting on the thermostat and what type of heating and cooling systems are used. These data points are entered into a software and that software uncovers what can be done to improve comfort and utility savings in the most cost effective manors.
